FAQs
Q: How much will I get paid? When will I get paid?
A: Each focus group takes about 3 to 4 hours. Payment is between $75-125. The amount of payment for each case will be noted in the email invitation you receive. Payments are through PayPal or Venmo, so you get paid almost immediately, usually the same day but always within 24 hours of the event! From time to time, we do have longer focus groups, sometimes all day events. The pay will reflect the longer event.
Q: How does a jury focus group work? What should I expect?
A: The focus groups/events we host are currently all remote (online) and usually run for about 3-4 hours. All events are currently being conducted via Zoom.
We gather groups of 5 to 10 participants to listen to facts and stories related to the lawyers' cases and then engage the group in a discussion. During the focus group, you will hear and see facts from real legal cases, provide feedback and interact with other participants.
Your opinions and views on the cases are all we need and participating involves sharing those views. Your opinion, attitudes, and views are all that matters. You will be participating with other members of our community and people are selected based on a wide variety of factors. Sometimes you will disagree with other participants and that is OK, in fact, that is useful to the lawyers. As long as it stays respectful and peaceful, debates or disagreements are actually helpful to the lawyers.
Please note, the sessions are recorded and there may be legal team participants listening in to the discussion.
Q: How do I get started?
Registering will add you to our list to be a focus group participant. All we need is some general background information about you - registration is quick and easy! About 2 or 3 days before our next scheduled focus group, we will send you an email invitation to participate and a confidentiality agreement. Once you've confirmed your availability and completed and returned our confidentiality agreement, you can attend.
Please note, the confidentiality agreement must be signed before you can attend. You'll only receive an official Zoom conference link after the agreement has been signed and returned.
Q: What are the requirements to participate?
A:
Uninterrupted time to participate in the entire focus group. We do not provide partial pay if you need to leave the session early. If something comes up and you can't participate in the entire session, just let us know and we will invite you to the next focus group instead! We usually host at least one focus group per month.
The ability to speak and understand English
A strong internet connection and a computer (a tablet or phone is OK, if it is stationary) with a working camera, microphone and adequate lighting in the room so we can see you clearly
The ability to install Zoom on your computer or device prior to the start of the focus group. You do not need a Zoom account to attend a Zoom meeting or interview but you must install the software. You will be prompted to download the software after you click on the link that you have been provided. You may also wish to create an account, but that is not required to participate in a Zoom meeting.
